Sanitation is a crucial issue that impacts everyone across both urban and rural areas. The past few years have seen a collective rise in awareness and efforts from citizens towards keeping their cities and towns clean. With the aim to make a meaningful contribution at a local level, we collaborated with the Swachh Warriors And Guards (SWAG) from Swachh Pune Swachh Bharat for a cleaning drive on 28 April 2019.

AThe event was held to support the Flight Safety team of the Air Force Station in Lohegaon in its effort towards keeping the area surrounding the airfield free of garbage and ensuring safe flying conditions. The garbage around the airfield draws a large number of birds which often endangers the safety of aircraft while taking off or landing.

We were accompanied by volunteers from the Adar Poonawalla Clean City Initiative and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in clearing garbage from nearly 5 acres of land in and around the Khulewadi village. Over 150 volunteers together cleared approximately 3 tons of trash, comprising largely of plastic and glass bottles, with the PMC providing assistance with moving the garbage.

A few creative members of the SWAG team made a unique contribution during the event by giving the local village school a beautiful makeover. We also provided materials for the beautification of the school and its vicinity. Following this, the event concluded with an aeromodelling show conducted by No. 3 Maharashtra Air Squadron NCC for all volunteers and an appeal by the volunteers to the locals regarding the responsible disposal of garbage.

Atidiv plans to continue its engagement with the local community via more such events in the remainder of the year, which marks our company’s 10th anniversary.
